Roads to the Stara planina:
1. Beograd- Paracin- Zajecar-Knjževac-Kalna-Babin Zub. When you travel from Belgrade or western part of Serbia its is very interesting road for sightseeing goes right next to the mountain Rtanj and all historical places like Felix Romulijana close to city of Zajecar. Of course Knjazevac and Donja Kamenica are on the way and should not be passed. That road is marked gray on this map, since the road is renewed it should take around 4 hours in normal weather conditions.
2. Belgrade-Niš-Svrljig-J.Izvor-Kalna-Babin Zub. This road is je 30km shorter than road that goes through Knjaževac. It is just been renewed and its the quickest way to the mountain. It is marked on the road with blue color, takes around 3 hours i 30minutes to the Mountain Lodge Shoom.
3.Pirot-Kalna-Babin Zub. Guests coming from Bulgaria or southern east part of Serbia can come from Pirot to the Stara planina. This road is also renewed and its 50 km from Pirot. Also new freeway from Bulgarian border to Pirot is open this year which makes it much quicker to get to the mountain. It should not take you more than one hour to get to the Mountain Lodge Shoom.
